Generating an Executive Report

Link to Generating an Executive Report copied to clipboard

This activity is performed whenever you have a need to share a high-level overview of the assessment results in an easy-to-digest format with project stakeholders such as Executives, Project Managers, Designers and Developers. It is a great way to demonstrate the value of using axe Auditor, and report the progress your team is making with their accessibility testing.

Prior Activity: Generating an Executive Report requires an exported issues 'export.csv' file. For complete instructions on how to export issues, see Exporting Issues.

To download the latest version of the "Excel report template":

To generate an executive report:

  1. Open the latest version (v2.8) of the report template file in Excel.
  2. At the top, left of the Scope worksheet, click the Import button.
  3. On the Microsoft Excel popup window, click the OK button.
  4. On the Open axe Auditor CSV File dialog box, locate and select the 'export.csv' file to populate the File name field, then click the Open button.
  5. On the Save As dialog box, rename the file as desired, then click the Save button.
  6. On the Microsoft Excel Import Successful! popup window, click the OK button.
  7. Review the report and optionally, add information to the Notes section of the Executive Summary sheet as desired.

Resetting Reports: Although the report features a RESET button, each is saved as an unique file while the original .xlsm file remains unchanged for re-use, so it is recommended that you not reset so as not to lose report data. Instead, to generate a new report, follow this same procedure again with a new export using the original, blank axe Auditor Executive Report v2.8.xlsm file.

Interpreting Reports: The report allows you to take advantage of the familiar sorting capabilities in Microsoft Excel. Although the meaning of the data is self-evident, be sure to take advantage of the embedded info '[i ]' and help '(?)' icons to display important metadata as needed. For more information about the Issues fields themselves, refer to the Issues topic within this documentation set.
