Preparing a Component (or Page) for automated and manual testing is a simple 3-step process:

  • Open/Send URL: Sending the recorded URL of the page to be tested (or page containing the component to be tested) to the testing browser.
  • Follow Access Instructions: When specified, review and follow any previously-recorded instructions for accessing the page to be tested (or page in which a sample of the component to be tested appears).

A wizard-style popup form prompts you to follow these three steps prior to clicking a Start Testing button to command the system to initiate automated testing.

Getting to this screen from the Test Run Overview screen: When a test case has been created and a test run assigned to you, its pages to be tested on the Test Run Overview screen will show 'not started' as the status, along with a Start Testing button. When activated, this button proceed to the Prepare Page for Automated and Manual testing screen.

Opening/Sending a URL

Clicking the Open/Send URL button just under the first step containing the URL field will automatically load a new window in the connected test browser. Note: This can be useful for both automated and manual testing, as it provides a convenient way to load the page to be tested (or page in which a sample of the component to be tested can be detected and highlighted). Sending the URL will open the URL in a new window of the connected browser.

Highlighting a Selector

The highlight tool visually highlights the Component in the connected browser. Before highlighting, make sure you have a browser connected and are on the page the Component appears on.

For detailed information about how to highlight a selector, see Highlighting a Selector.
