Views containing information should not be covered by another view, either entirely or partially. Toolbar and Dialog controls are ignored.

When a view's information is obstructed, it cannot be announced with assistive technology.


The version of Android, device, and manufacturer may play a part in issue detection.


  1. Navigate within your app to the view
  2. One of the following will happen:
    • Inaccessible: Observe the view is partially, or entirely, covered by another view.
    • Accessible: The view is clear from any obstruction from another view.

How to Fix

Move the overlaying view, or the informative view, to ensure no other view is covering it.
