What’s New in Axe Monitor 8.6

Improved Error Messages

When you encounter common errors in Axe Monitor, messages are now more user-friendly and helpful so that you can quickly resolve your issue. New, actionable error messages now show when:

  • Pages fail during scanning, caused by misconfigured settings, long loading times, or broken scripts.
  • Your site prevents Axe Monitor from scanning a page, due to allow-listing or an inaccurate password.
  • An upload fails.
  • You don’t have the right permissions to access a page.
  • A scan run at the current URL no longer exists.

Faster Support and Upgrade Times

When your instance of Axe Monitor is upgraded to 8.6, our support team and developers will be better able to assist you with back-end diagnostics. This will result in quicker resolution when you submit a support request, or when you upgrade to future versions.

Web Bot Auth Support Added

Axe Monitor now accommodates allow-listing for the Web Bot Auth standard. This new standard is becoming commonly used with services like Shopify, Akamai, and Cloudflare. If your site has adopted the Web Bot Auth standard and Axe Monitor is scanning fewer pages than expected, contact helpdesk@deque.com. Axe Monitor can be enabled by providing customer support with a Signature-Input, Signature, and Signature-Agent.

Updates - 8.6.1

  • The Axe Monitor API no longer limits requests each hour, allowing for a smoother experience when calling large amounts of scan data.
  • Bugs introduced in 8.6.0 related to on-prem MSSQL installs were fixed.

Bug Fixes - 8.6.0

  • Sometimes, public share links opened in Microsoft Edge were incorrectly redirecting users to sign in. This issue is now resolved, and the links no longer prompt login.
  • Japanese words and phrases are now more clearly and accurately translated across the system.
  • When a preset without common components defined is applied to a scan with pre-existing common components, the scan’s common components are now properly maintained.
  • When a preset has common components defined, and the preset is applied to a scan with pre-existing common components, the scan’s template URL is now properly replaced by the preset’s template URL.
  • Older PDFs which do not follow the standard ISO date format are now properly handled when the PDF date range setting option is on.
  • Scheduled scans now properly save in the Safari browser.
  • Scans can now be deleted while a run is in progress, without cancelling the scan run first.
  • The experience for screen reader users was improved on the Scans list.
  • YAML user flow scripts can now be uploaded as shared scripts from Windows.

Known Issues

  • Public Share Links are only available once a scan run has been completed.
  • Users with the Scan viewer permission are not able to assign issues to other users.
  • “Comment” field content on individual issues does not currently persist across scan runs.
