Common Components (Scope Definitions)

Common Components (formerly Scope Definitions) allow you to segment portions of pages that are common across multiple pages, such as the header, footer and navigation areas.

Example of a navigation template area of a webpage

When an issue appears in one of these defined areas, regardless of how many pages it appears on, it will be grouped as a Common Issue instead of appearing as duplicated issues within each page.

Adding Common Components

  • How are common components used in axe Monitor?

Common components are applied to a scan on the Create or Edit a Scan page.

Note: When using both common components and scripts, users must code elements such as excluding headers and footers (content crawled by common components) within the scripts. These customized scripts can then be imported into axe Monitor, providing a customized approach to accessibility testing.
