What's New
New Vocabulary
When you upgrade to axe Monitor 8.0, your data and settings will be migrated as-is.
- Organizations are now called Scan Groups.
- Projects (your individual websites) are now called Scans.
- The individual instances that run weekly or monthly, previously called Scans, are now called Scan Runs.
- Scope Definitions are renamed to Common Components.
Flexible Setup and Scan Hierarchy
Earlier versions of axe Monitor allowed Projects to belong to only one Organization. With version 8.0, Scans can belong to multiple Scan Groups.
For example, a scan, “Google.fr” can belong to Scan Groups such as “Search Sites” and “French Sites.” This dynamic and customizable hierarchy allows you to filter accessibility testing results that make sense to your unique team setup.
Streamlined User Experience with axe Tools
The new axe Monitor interface offers a simplified user experience, making it easier to create scans, review results, and track accessibility trends.
Integration with axe Account allows Monitor admins to create users and teams. Then, those teams can get access to scans and scan groups in axe Monitor, allowing you to efficiently run your accessibility program.
Track Progress in axe Reports
The system and organization dashboards in axe Monitor are replaced by axe Reports, where you can get more in-depth Score Trends, Accessibility Health, and Issue by Period trends than previously offered in axe Monitor.
Integration with axe Reports enables users to track in-depth reporting of scans over time.
Scan Overview
Get a comprehensive view of the Scan data on a single page, providing insights for efficiently managing accessibility testing, data visualization, and issue analysis.
Scan Overview shows the Accessibility Score and allows you to track progress over time across recent scan runs.
Throughout the Scan Overview page, issue and page counts link directly to relevant filters, so you can focus on fixing the most important issues in your scan results.
Customized, Tailored Issue Reports and Filtering
Axe Monitor now provides robust filtering options, enabling users to create actionable, customized reports for their teams. Use filters to focus on just the results that matter to you.
Users can generate reports in CSV and axe Universal JSON with configurable fields tailored to their specific needs. Additionally, they can drill down into issue details and page content directly within the reports for deeper insights.
Bulk Actions
In Version 8.0, users can now export over 50,000 issues, significantly increasing the previous limit of 15,000. You can also configure export fields to simplify the columns in your CSV file.
Infrastructure Updates
- Axe core upgraded to 4.10
- RabbitMQ upgraded to 3.11+

Deprecation
- Support for axe Monitor installs on RedHat 7.x, Windows Server 2016, and MS SQL Server 2016 has been dropped.
Known Issues
- The new "Export to JSON" feature on the Issues List is supported for up to 10,000 issues and 1,000 pages
- Custom Referrer settings do not migrate as expected when migrating a Project to a Scan in version 8.0. Edit your scan to set Custom Referrer.
- Migrating a Project with Send email to project administrators enabled does not retain the Notify me setting in the Scan in version 8.0. Edit your scan to notify specific users.
- The Notify all team members checkbox is disabled on the Review screen when creating a new Scan, preventing users from notifying all team members when the scan run completes. Choose "Notify specific users" instead.
