Issues vs. Needs Review

Axe Monitor reports results as Issues and Needs Review.

Axe Monitor marks a result’s severity as an Issue if it is an accessibility error that can be definitively identified by automation; for example: an image with no alt attribute, or a form with no explicitly attached label, or poor color contrast.

A Needs Review result must be verified by a person to conclude whether or not it is an actual issue (such as text that has style markup applied and appears to have been used as a heading, but is not tagged as a heading; or a table that may contain data, but has no header cells).

A result flagged as Needs Review can be changed to an Issue once it has been reviewed manually and confirmed as a true Issue. A Needs Review result that has been determined NOT to be an issue can be set to Ignored.
