The axe Expert extension is officially retired. Read more about this on the axe Expert Replacement page. These pages will be taken down in July of 2024. Email helpdesk@deque.com with any questions or concerns.

In the case on an identified potential issue where the analysis process cannot determine a specific violation, the axe Expert Extension will bring this to your attention in the form of a textual alert message in the right results pane of the Analyze panel when a violation is displayed. Technically, such an issue is not a rule violation, and the red text provides a reason for the uncertainty.

When a potential identified issue requiring manual review, you are prompted to make a determination and save the result on the right results pane of the Analyze panel.

  1. On the right results pane of the Analyze panel, under the We are not sure this is an issue, because: pane, select either the This is an issue or the This is not an issue option.

selecting an issue/non-issue radio button option on the right results pane of the Analyze panel

If you selected the This is an issue option, a new text entry field appears for the purpose of providing a description containing details of how and/or why you arrived at the determination that it was in fact an issue as a result of your manual testing.

  1. Optionally, if you selected the This is an issue, type, or paste from virtual clipboard, a text-based reason for your determination in the Provide an issue description: field.

  2. Select SAVE.

entering an issue description and clicking the SAVE button on the right results pane of the Analyze panel

The section heading text changes to Issue has been reviewed and if provided, your description is displayed along with Edit and Clear links.

Important: Reviewed issues are stored in a session and will be remembered for subsequent tests. The session is cleared when you close your browser. When testing multiple websites, we recommend you clear the session in between tests.

  3. Optionally, you can select either Edit or Clear the existing session.

the Issue has been reviewed with Edit and Clear links

Navigate to a subsequent violation of the current rule using the navigation buttons at the top of the right pane, or select a different rule from the violated rules pane at left.
