Xcode command line tools should be installed as part of installing Xcode itself. Verify they are installed using the following instructions and follow the prompts to install, if needed.

  1. Launch the Xcode application on your Mac.
  2. Go to Xcode > Settings (or 'Preferences' in older versions) from the menu bar.
  3. Click on the Locations tab in the preferences window.
  4. In the Command Line Tools dropdown menu, select the latest version of Xcode.
  5. If the command line tools aren't already installed, Xcode may prompt you to install them. Click 'Install' and enter the admin password for your Mac when requested.
